DDoS Attacks And Collateral Damage

The past couple of weeks my website wasn’t exactly stable with it often going offline for a couple of minutes. It wasn’t uncommon that my website wasn’t reachable for half an hour or more.

To resolve these issues I had a chat today with my hosting company and my website was going down thanks to DDoS attacks. Although these weren’t aimed at me, I was just getting caught in the crossfire. My website was just collateral damage when someone was trying to bring down another website.

My hosting company is going to take measures tomorrow so that my website won’t be going down any more. However, this means that my website won’t be available for around 15 minutes to an hour somewhere during the day tomorrow. But after that my website should be running smoothly again.

Though if you notice anything amiss, or can’t reach my website at all, don’t hesitate to contact me on Twitter.
