Channel Trailer – 2011 Version

Ventures Into Scepticism

Real Sceptic has its origins as a companion site for the videos produced by Collin Maessen. The site has progressed beyond this original purpose and now predominantly includes articles that are independent of the content released on YouTube. However this original content is still an important part of the site.

This page serves as an archive for videos produced and released on YouTube. You can find full transcripts, source listing and used media files for the videos. We are currently in the process of transcribing all the audio.

Please note that the first nine videos are of a substantial lower quality than videos that were produced after these. As these first nine videos were as much, and in some case more, about learning to edit videos and learning how to tell a story in sound and images.

==============

In general I deal with nonsense that I encounter about climate change/global warming. The news coverage we had recently on the possible new little ice age is an example of this. Or the fuss HowTheWorldWorks created about a few layman tweets that linked global warming with the earthquake in Japan.

But I do tend to also tackle more generic claims made about environmental policies, or actions that influence the environment. Like the lovely video Steven Crowder produced about the massive amounts of oil the United States has (hint: he's a 'bit' off).

These are my main subjects that I make videos on. But I do not restrict myself to these subjects, I've done videos on creationism, religion, politics, and whatever strikes my fancy at the time. Although my best work, in my opinion, is in the area of climate change and environmental issues.

Now some of you might also be familiar with SkepticTV. If you have ever visited our show on BlogTV I'm the tech guy who is responsible for broadcasting and keeping everything running during a broadcast. So you might have already met me on BlogTV while I was operating the skeptictv account.

I hope I've managed to sell my channel a bit and I hope to see you there.
